MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM OSCAR!

This is Oscar here. I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here at Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation, we hope to be in our permanent location in early to mid 2023. Once we are in our permanent and expanded facility (can't do much here currently out of my two dads home), we will be able to do so much more and rescue so many of my stray friends that need us so bad. Please help us get there sooner than later...WOOF, WOOF!

OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION: EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG PLACEMENT

Our very first graduate from Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation's coaching class for Emotional Support Dogs was picked up 12/21/2022 by his new caregiver and went to his forever home. We called him Buddy for his two week stay with us. I know that Buddy will be an excellent companion for his new owner, a young gentleman who suffers from manic depression. It was difficult saying goodbye to Buddy as he left, but we were so proud of the little guy.

Please congratulate Buddy on his new adventure.
Below are pictures of Buddy in the backyard the other day and on 12/21/2022, as we set him on the driveway prior to his jumping into his new owner's car on the passenger side, where he was safely buckled in (his new owner did not want to be photographed or identified for privacy reasons and we respect that)...

OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION: EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOGS (UPDATED FROM EARLIER)

My dog Oscar is not only my best friend, but is also my emotional support dog. I suffer from bipolar disorder & am on medication, but when coupled with exposure to animals of all kinds, my symptoms drastically improve. Oscar's Foundation, dba Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation, not only benefits animals, but will benefit those struggling with depression/emotional difficulties, as our work with rescues has recently expanded to include coaching (while in our care) in the area of emotional support & we will provide dogs free of charge, when available, for those in need. Emotional support animals help their caregiver, not various individuals in a group setting, such as hospitals, etc. & as such are not required to be professionally trained or certified like therapy animals & specialized service dogs for the blind, etc.; there is a legal & specific difference in the three types.

Oscar and I have been working with a rescue dog residing with us for two weeks, who will leave this week for his forever home with an individual suffering from manic depression. WE ARE SO EXCITED...
The pictures below are an earlier photo of Oscar, and a recent photo of Buddy, who just came out of our climate controlled greenhouse being used temporarily to house rescues & made a beeline into a restricted garden area of the yard (thank God Spencer didn't see this, but it's OK as this little garden has died back for the season & full of unwanted grass & weeds...lol). I also included a pic showing Buddy's completion of our two week course in emotional support coaching,
congratulations
on your graduation Buddy! Buddy is still a little shy and I will work with him some more before he goes to his forever home this week, it could be because he just got back earlier today after receiving all of his shots...

PERSONAL URGENCY FOR SUCCESS OF OSCAR'S FOUNDATION dba OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION IS TWO-FOLD...

Sadly, catsdogs are tortured, left out in the cold, let loose by owners who no longer want them, & even slaughtered & eaten by unsuspecting humans dining in certain "shady" establishments.  Over 6 million companion animals are rescued & enter shelters every year, while many others are not even given that chance of a better life.  Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation will help tremendously in their rescue & urgently need your support to assist in completion of the infrastructure needed to accomplish this...

The Director of Oscar's Foundation has the truest form of love for the care & safety of all animals; the showing of this love through Oscar's Foundation will truly be a therapeutic endeavor as well for his own struggle with the disease of depression, as this companionship with animals helped his own coping skills with this disease when he took in strays & neglected animals (on a much smaller scale) & cared for them in the past as a hobby while he was still employed.  Now, being fully retired & devoting the bulk of his time to this endeavor, he will be able to live a better life while providing the chance for a better life for thousands of animals during his remaining life on Earth.  Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation will allow this for him, as well as those thousands of animals he will advocate & care for, but they all urgently need your support to assist with the proper infrastructure needed.  The Director & his partner in life are putting up personal funds for the bulk of this endeavor & launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with a smaller portion of it.

This is Oscar, the mastermind behind all of this...

Please take the time to visit the GoFundMe campaign site as there are valuable links with vital information, as well as updates and comments from donors.  A donation would be humbly appreciated.

OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION

 Back to the drawing board...

Our first attempt securing land for Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation failed; however, many things achieved in life meet failure before ultimate success.  There were 3 offers & we were all asked to resubmit our best & final offer.  The owner liked what we stated the land would be used for, but came back to us in the end & said if we wanted it, we would have to come up another $25,000 for a total of $65,000.  With costs so high for the entire project, that is not in the budget.

NO WORRIES THOUGH, we are going back out on the trail this weekend to look at more; Oscar is excited as he likes to mark his territory on each parcel we look at (under pressure, Spencer and I have been known to mark ours as well).  Please click on the link and give what you can to our campaign:

Oscar, Spencer, & I appreciate your time & consideration!

HOLDING AREAS FOR RESCUED DOMESTICATED ANIMALS & SMALL LIVESTOCK

We have been out looking at housing for the rescued animals from several different builders & suppliers in order to decide on how we should set that aspect up, now that we have put an offer on a piece of land (owner of land came back to us & the submitters of the two other offers this past Friday, asking we each submit our best & final offer by 5 PM tomorrow afternoon 10/17/2022).

We have now thought about the possibility of ruling out having a central building to house the various animals, along with the office, & probably go with separate smaller structures for the animal housing, & a separate structure for the office.  The final decision will be made based on a firm accepted contract in hand for the land & that corresponding cost (along with the total cost of improvements to the land, including the various infrastructure components), the total cost of the separate office structure, & the combined costs of the separate animal housing structures.

The structure for the dogs (size depending on total final preliminary cost of entire project) will look as below:

The shell structure for cats & other small domesticated animals, before the holding cages & completion of the interior walls, etc., will look as below (included picture of the holding cages as well, & size of all of this depends on total final preliminary cost of entire project):

The structure for the office, including sleeping quarters for attendant on duty, will look as below & again, size depends on total preliminary costs of entire project:

For small livestock (goats, etc.), I will personally construct their shelter & roaming areas; the specifications of this will come later once the total preliminary costs of all the above can be more definitive.

I will keep everyone updated as continued progress is made...

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF ANIMAL RESCUE AND CARE

A new organization is being started by two animal lovers who consider animals as important in this society as their caregivers.

MISSION STATEMENT:   To reach animal lovers worldwide compassionate to our cause of saving as large a number as possible of stray and neglected animals caused by abuse, extreme weather conditions due to climate change, overpopulation, and numerous other factors.  These poor animals need an advocate in their corner to help facilitate the transition from being stray and neglected to that of ultimately residing within a permanent loving environment.  Our organization will do just that; we will be that facilitator who can make this happen, as well as provide temporary care when needed, if possible with existing space, and/or provide a workable alternative solution when needed.  We will have no unnecessary levels of bureaucracy and will operate with a hands-on approach taken to reach our goals.

PRINCIPALS:  Joseph C. Knudson – author, advocate, & businessman,
                                                                67 years of age

                     Spencer B. Aiello – advocate & hands-on leader,
                                                            57 years of age

ORGANIZATION NAME:  Oscar’s Animal Rescue & Facilitation  (paperwork in process for all aspects of the business, including licensing)

WHO IS OSCAR?  Oscar is a loving member of the Knudson/Aiello family who was rescued 11 years ago by Joe & Spencer.  He pretty much runs the place and is rewarded with plenty of love, hugs, kisses, and dog biscuits; he has also been known to enjoy a pancake or two on Saturday mornings.  He is in the photos above.

PRINCIPALS EXPERIENCE IN ANIMAL RESCUE & CARE:

1.
Lived almost a decade on 5 wooded acres in the country and as a pastime, rescued  many, many animals of all sizes, shapes, and kind.  Joe was diagnosed with cancer during this period and his illness eventually forced a move back to the city; however, all animals were either placed in loving homes or moved to the city with Joe &
Spencer.  Joe has since recovered and has been cancer free now for over 15 years and both Joe & Spencer desire to find the right parcel of land in the country suitable for running Oscar’s Animal Rescue & Facilitation, as well as put in place the necessary infrastructure on the land to successfully operate the business.  The time is now and they feel they can rescue thousands of animals during their remaining lifetime and eventually pass the business on to family.

2.
They also cared for wild deer and raccoons on land they purchased adjacent to their retirement home at Grand Lake upon Joe’s retirement several years ago and resided there for 3 years prior to a move back to the Oklahoma City area to be close to their grandson Atlas.

3.
In the 30 years Joe & Spencer have been together, they have continually enjoyed the presence of pets in their home and have successfully nurtured each of them to a long and healthy life.  When their current dog Oscar was having problems with his hind legs,
they took him to the vet who performed two successful surgeries to correct the problem.

4.
Spencer has worked in the pet care industry as well, which will prove invaluable.

IN SUMMARY:  The timing is right for Joe & Spencer to
continue forward with all preparations for
a successful launch of Oscar’s Animal
                          Rescue & Facilitation
, a desperately needed
organization for animals in need, and both
the animals & Joe & Spencer need you right
along with them with love and encouragement.

Email Oscar at oscarsanimalrescue.facilitation@gmail.com  He barks loud every time he gets mail and we reward him with a biscuit.
