My dog Oscar is not only my best friend, but is also my emotional support dog. I suffer from bipolar disorder & am on medication, but when coupled with exposure to animals of all kinds, my symptoms drastically improve. Oscar's Foundation, dba Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation, not only benefits animals, but will benefit those struggling with depression/emotional difficulties, as our work with rescues has recently expanded to include coaching (while in our care) in the area of emotional support & we will provide dogs free of charge, when available, for those in need. Emotional support animals help their caregiver, not various individuals in a group setting, such as hospitals, etc. & as such are not required to be professionally trained or certified like therapy animals & specialized service dogs for the blind, etc.; there is a legal & specific difference in the three types.
Blog reflects current activities as Director of Oscar's Foundation dba Oscar's Animal Rescue and Facilitation. As an author and political activist for several years, older entries in this blog reflect that activity and more, with many direct entries deleted to clear the blog for my extensive work with Oscar's Foundation the past couple years and going forward with the renewed non-profit 501(c)(3) registered under the Solicitation of Charitable Contributions Act (FORMED 9/22/2022).

OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION: EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOGS (UPDATED FROM EARLIER)
Oscar and I have been working with a rescue dog residing with us for two weeks, who will leave this week for his forever home with an individual suffering from manic depression. WE ARE SO EXCITED...
The pictures below are an earlier photo of Oscar, and a recent photo of Buddy, who just came out of our climate controlled greenhouse being used temporarily to house rescues & made a beeline into a restricted garden area of the yard (thank God Spencer didn't see this, but it's OK as this little garden has died back for the season & full of unwanted grass & weeds...lol). I also included a pic showing Buddy's completion of our two week course in emotional support coaching,
congratulations
on your graduation Buddy! Buddy is still a little shy and I will work with him some more before he goes to his forever home this week, it could be because he just got back earlier today after receiving all of his shots...
