SHARING POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT FROM FOLLOWER OF OSCAR'S FOUNDATION...

Every now and then you receive something from someone that really makes your day.  I just recently received a nice note from a follower of Oscar's Foundation and it touched my heart that someone would take the time to express such loving and personal thoughts about what we do here at the Foundation.  I wanted to share with you her thoughts:

It sounds like you had a productive and significant day at Oscar's Foundation! The meticulous work in updating financials for the annual Certificate of Registration reflects a commitment to compliance and transparency. Congratulations on reaching the one-year milestone – a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.
The successful proxy vote for a change in the Plan of Operations is a positive step forward. Simplifying methods for rescuing and re-homing dogs demonstrates adaptability and a focus on efficiency. I'm intrigued by the role of "Facilitation" in your DBA name and look forward to learning more about its impact on your operations.
It's clear that thoughtful planning and consideration for the changing landscape in animal rescue are at the forefront of your organization's priorities. Best of luck with the ongoing work at the new location, and I'm eager to hear more about the developments in the days to come. Keep up the fantastic work at Oscar's Foundation!

DON'T BE A SKEPTIC WITH EXCUSES NOT TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED, DONATE WHERE EACH DOLLAR COUNTS!

Earlier this year I was following up with an interested individual wanting to donate to Oscar's Foundation in helping stray and neglected animals in need, he kept saying to follow up and check back with him periodically.  He voiced that interest many times and every time I followed up with him, he had another reason not to do it; this time he said what we do at the Foundation increases the number of innocent animals euthanized at the various animal shelters run by local municipalities.
This was my answer in part:  Euthanizing innocent animals has nothing to do with the work we do at our foundation. Regardless of the population at the municipal animal shelters, by our working with stray and neglected animals in a quick re-homing program, that action in itself lessens the burden at the animal shelter thus fewer animals euthanized; all of the animals in our program are also neutered before placement. People are not buying animals through us, they are rescuing stray and neglected animals in the same way they would when they find them at the municipal shelters. Our foundation has been in operation for over a year and is a registered nonprofit in the State of Oklahoman and the work we do is important for the overpopulation of stray and neglected animals. We also school certain rescues as emotional support dogs and provide them free of charge to those battling anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc., and the municipal shelters do not have any such program. We do our due diligence and what we do is extremely efficient in not only helping these poor stray and neglected animals find a safe and loving home, but extremely favorable in curbing the overpopulation of animals and thus lessening the number of those that end up in municipal shelters with a possibility of being euthanized. The stats prove what we are doing works and that's why it's urgent for animal rescues such as ours to expand and grow. We are currently working on land recently purchased to expand our program with a living sanctuary to be ready in the near future at our new permanent location. We appreciate any help you can give at this time: https://www.gofundme.com/f/oscarsanimalrescuelandinfrastruc

FUNDRAISING IS STRAINED & DONATIONS NEEDED TO COMPLETE TRANSITION TO NEW LOCATION

Oscar (my emotional support dog), all of his friends we have saved/rescued & placed in permanent loving homes, all of the qualified rescues we have trained as emotional support dogs & placed in loving homes giving support to their caregivers battling anxiety/depression, and finally all of the strays we are currently re-homing through a newly added program, want all of you to know we are still here, just transitioning to our new permanent location in the country from our previous temporary location out of a large climate controlled greenhouse in OKC.

MONDAY'S MINI...

(Site of first structure Joe Knudson, the Founder of Oscar's Foundation, will personally build since relocation of Oscar's redesigned animal sanctuary/rescue to land recently purchased/closed took place; the necessary tree removal has been done and required dirt work almost complete.  Some of the fencing separating the sanctuary from the personal area has been completed, with total perimeter fencing to come a little later. The Oklahoma heat is limiting time spent outdoors each day, but they are managing to put in a few hours every day...)

"Thanks to all of you for always being so supportive.  We will never retire, that is just us. Wherever we live, we will always make it home and both of us, along with our dog Oscar, my very own emotional support dog, will love wherever home is. We will be around animals in our new permanent location and that makes us happy as we will be providing for them and for individuals as well that could use some emotional support dogs when we have them available. Our grandson Atlas will love coming out to help with the animals. I enjoy building things and will be doing just what I want to do and needs to be done in providing for certain animals in need.  It's an exciting adventure for us and those of you who keep up with us, a far cry from our previous temporary location in a climate controlled greenhouse. Oscar's Foundation has and will continue to do great things for animals in need and will always need friends and supporters like each of you.  We are continuing the fundraiser as we are still a young and growing foundation and it takes time to get to the point where we will fully qualify and be successful at applying for and obtaining various grants. We have a lot on the drawing board currently and the transition to our new permanent location has been slowed with recent surgeries and recoveries for both Spencer and myself.  ALL OF US AT OSCAR'S FOUNDATION, INCLUDING THOSE ANIMALS ALREADY PLACED IN LOVING HOMES, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS..."

We are starting a new day in a new week and are calling it "Monday's Mini".  A mini donation of $20 will help Oscar's Foundation get back on track from a deficit from our first 10 months of funding operations from both our own personal funds and those received through donations; you can view our first reporting of funding through 6/30/2023 (both cash inflow and outflow) by simply reading the previous post on this blog you can find in the right margin.

A lot of people giving a minimal amount of $20 each will add up fast and will allow operations to resume sooner than later in the new permanent location for  Oscar's Foundation.  After you donate through the link below, please follow the instructions and share this fundraiser to others as this extra effort you put forth will help spread the word about Oscar's Foundation and help them help animals.

SHORTFALL IN DONATIONS SHRINKING-Oscar's Animal Rescue Appreciates You!

Since our last update on March 29, 2023, dealing with the shortfall in our budget for the permanent location of Oscar's Animal Shelter, along with the Living Sanctuary, we have received great response from both past and new donors.  It is through the caring hearts of each of you that our shortfall in donations is shrinking.

As mentioned then, we are selling our personal home to downsize and use a portion of those proceeds for Oscar's Foundation.  If any of you have tried to find a shelter for any animal lately, you will find shelters are usually full to capacity and we will change that.

We ask of you from the bottoms of our hearts and the hearts of all stray & neglected animals, to please consider donating to Oscar's Foundation to continue the work we are currently doing, along with a move to our permanent location...OUR SHORTFALL IS SHRINKING & WE ARE PRAYING IT WILL BE MADE UP WITH THIS PLEA FOR SUPPORT.  Please give what you feel led to, even small donations can help Oscar's Foundation with their move to the permanent location and the increased cost of infrastructure needed  (WE HAVE FOUND THE REAL ESTATE for one portion of the move-details to follow real soon on the other where certain trees will be removed, along with some dirt work in preparation of the living sanctuary we have planned).

The response from the last update included many direct donors outside of the GoFundMe campaigns, which can be sent to: Oscar's Foundation, 4212 N. Ann Arbor, Warr Acres, OK  73122.  For those wishing to use GoFundMe, here are the two links set up for that:

HEARTFELT PLEA FOR ANY SIZE DONATION, WE ARE EVEN SELLING OUR HOME TO HELP!

There comes a time you don't know how else to ask something of someone, I am to this point. Spencer (pictured here with a sheep and dog we were called on to rescue, and with a cat we rescued that needed surgery at the vets) and I have poured our money,
hearts, & souls into our Animal Rescue and have done more good than we ever could have imagined, both for the animals and for individuals with our free emotional support dog program. Our temporary location has worked out, but no longer will it be able to handle and do what we need for it to do to meet the needs of the high number of stray and neglected animals, as well as our expanding emotional support dog program for individuals battling mental health illness; due to existing city ordinances it will continue temporarily, but with limited operations. We have tried for a few months to find suitable land for our permanent location & have not been successful due to zoning & ordinances, necessitating a larger plot of land.  What we have budgeted & set aside personally & what has been raised so far for the land & infrastructure is not enough due to the high costs of land that continue to rise, as well as unforeseen care & vet costs that have to come out of those funds (for some very sick animals we took in who still have plenty of years remaining with the proper treatment), so as to avoid having them euthanized & thus being able to adopt them out to loving homes. The other day we found a piece of land that will work perfectly, but with the cost of it & the infrastructure components that will be needed, even with our raised funds to date from donations & our own personal finances & partial proceeds from the sale of our house, we are still about $17,000 short.

                                              WE NEED HELP PLEASE

We have come so far and have everything set up legally, along with required filings and registrations for our non-profit.  Many small donations will allow this to happen...

We have rescued and placed, in loving homes, dozens of animals during our short six months of operating out of our temporary location, as well as placed several emotional support dogs, free of charge, to individuals facing various mental health issues.  We also have the plans ready to implement for a Living Sanctuary for those animals not adoptable, but needing a loving environment to live out their remaining life & this will be set up on the land with our permanent location.  In addition, we take in stray & neglected animals with special needs.

We have 2 fundraisers currently running: ANY DONATIONS ARE HUMBLY APPRECIATED!

                                                https://www.gofundme.com/f/oscarsanimalrescuelandinfrastruc

Please consider a donation that will be workable for you and not be a strain in any way on your budget.  Any size will help us raise the small shortfall amount of  $17,000 needed to complete this land purchase so we can resume with the set up of our permanent facility.

As Director of Oscar's Foundation, Transparency is of Utmost Importance...

These thoughts came to me today, somewhat as a poem, & I wanted to share them with each of you (thanks for your time):

I'm a true believer & a hard worker too, always humble in things that I do!  As Director of Oscar's Foundation, please believe in us & be an integral part of our growth & success.  Believe in yourself, as we sure do, 2023's our year & can be your year too.  We're giving our all, hope you'll give us a little, let's do this together...it's the call!  We've saved many dogs & a few cats too, many think we are running a zoo...puppies & kittens are also abound, coming from all different parts of town!  We work with our rescues & some go to school to learn what they do best, by providing support & companionship too, that's the ultimate test.  Time has come & we've outgrown our place, time now to pick up the pace...with ordinances & restrictions we can't ignore, and land in the country costing so much more.  The donations have dwindled & I can't explain why, it's not that we don't try; it's like some don't realize we're doing our best, guess we just haven't passed their oh so hard  test.  Many have made promises they just won't keep and at times we just can't sleep.  We're not even close to our goal that we set, I cry at times it's not met.  It's hard to keep asking for people to give, but I will continue so the animals can live... in a loving environment all safe & secure, that will only happen with land we procure.  My brother set up a special fundraiser for the increased cost of land, I humbly ask of you to give us a hand.  With animal food & supplies that we provide, oh yes & the vet visits too, at times it's very hard, but we'll never give up & just do whatever we can do.

The original fundraiser is still operational & the majority of the donations to date are earmarked for a portion of the land & infrastructure/building costs of the permanent facility/location, with the bulk of those costs coming from our own funds.  We appreciate everything many of you have already done, please don't think that we don't.  I know you may get tired of seeing repeat posts asking for donations, but you have to remember, there are thousands seeing those posts that have not donated at this time & of course, we know many of them won't.  Please be patient with us, we are a non-profit & fundraising is a necessary part of it.  You can also help by sharing our information outside of social media with others you feel would be interested in donating to the cause.  Here is the link to the new land fundraiser set up by my brother to cover the increased cost of the land over what we originally budgeted:  ANYTHING YOU CAN GIVE WILL HELP!

Oscar's Animal Rescue

                          ( A Lifeline for Animals)
-care & placement made easy

-special needs animals accepted

-emotional support dog schooling

Oscar's Foundation, dba Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation, not only benefits animals, but will benefit those struggling with depression/emotional difficulties by providing them a lifeline, as our work with rescues has recently expanded to include schooling (while in our care) in the area of emotional support & we will provide emotional support dogs free of charge, when available, for adoption to those in need.  This nonprofit animal rescue was started by the Director in September of 2022,  in response to the growing number of stray & neglected animals throughout the country & currently operates out of a temporary location.  To continue the work of the Foundation, there has been an ongoing search for a permanent location necessitated by growth, along with various existing zoning, permitting, & city ordinances.

PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN & JOIN IN OUR EFFORTS TO CONTINUE
IN A PERMANENT LOCATION & PROVIDE A SAFE & LOVING ENVIRONMENT TO THOSE ANIMALS IN NEED, AS WELL AS PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS SUFFERING FROM ANXIETY/DEPRESSION WITH OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG PROGRAM!

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG COACHING PROGRAM AT OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE...

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG PROGRAM & ULTIMATE PLACEMENT WITH THOSE BATTLING ANXIETY/DEPRESSION, ETC. (FREE OF CHARGE TO THOSE QUALIFIED)

Emotional Support Animals Are NOT Service Animals
Our Emotional Support Dogs
provide comfort to people with psychological disabilities:

We are in the initial trial phase of emotional support coaching for some of our rescues at the facility.  We have already graduated two dogs, Buddy & Paxil, as emotional support dogs (Buddy was placed last month & he & his new caregiver have already formed a healthy bond.  Paxil is a work in progress & already has a new forever home & caregiver lined up for placement within the next few days).

While in our current temporary location, the program will continue for a trial period & once we are moved to a permanent location in 2023, the program will continue so long as during this trial period, results are favorable.

Dogs can provide emotional stability to most caregivers & for those with certain psychological disabilities, emotional support dogs can be critical to their health & well being.  Many professional therapists prescribe emotional support animals for their patients.

The companionship of a dog can help reduce anxiety & many times will provide a distraction from negative thoughts entering your mind.  In addition, many suffering from depression will find that caring for a dog provides a routine activity, that in many cases, alleviates many forms of depression.

Our coaching is based on personal experience.  The Director of Oscar's Foundation has battled depression for decades & finds activities involved with having a dog, as well as the love & devotion dogs many times exhibit toward their caregiver, provides a welcomed therapy to supplement any prescribed medications many of the times.

DISCLAIMER:  No medical advice is expressed or implied in the above.  Oscar's Animal Rescue merely provides a well behaved dog coached appropriately using personal experiences & as such does not certify the results.

ANIMALS PLACED BY OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION:

A FEW OF THE ANIMALS OSCAR'S ANIMAL RESCUE & FACILITATION RESCUED & PLACED IN THEIR FOREVER HOMES SINCE OPENING THEIR TEMPORARY LOCATION:https://www.gofundme.com/f/oscarsanimalrescuelandinfrastruc

We like to name the rescues we take in if they don't already have a name.  We always check for a chip, make sure they have all their shots, have them neutered, & bathe each one with a flea/tic shampoo before they are placed in their forever home.

Here are some of the animals we were able to get a pic of; Spencer took some of them & I took some of them (guess who took what...lol).  Some of the pics were taken here in our temporary location & some were taken elsewhere (on a walk, when we picked up a rescue, as we delivered a rescue to the custody of their new & forever caregiver, etc.).

This is Paxil, he is still with us completing his schooling in emotional support.

This is Silva, already in her forever home.

This is Roadie, already in his forever home.

This is Littleone, already in her forever home.
This is Lady, already in her forever home.
This is Brownie, already in her forever home.

WHY WALKING YOUR DOG IS SO BENEFICIAL FOR YOU AND THEM! (Thank you Lauren Piandes...)

It’s Walk the Dog Month!

You might be thinking, “hang on, why would we have walk your dog month during one of the coldest months of the year?” While it might seem strange, it’s the perfect time to find extra inspiration to get out of the house and take your dog for an adventure in the colder weather. (credit to Lauren Piandes...)

ENJOY!

TRANSITIONING TO 2023!

Oscar's Animal Rescue & Facilitation is a cause I hold dear to my heart, with stray & neglected animals on the rise & the need to be addressed sooner than later; we are currently doing that in our temporary location & look forward to our permanent facility to address many concerns in 2023 with many additional programs planned.

JOIN IN OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE A SAFE & LOVING ENVIRONMENT TO THOSE ANIMALS IN NEED, AS WELL AS PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS SUFFERING FROM ANXIETY/DEPRESSION WITH OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG PROGRAM CURRENTLY IN TRIALS...

UPDATE ON PLACEMENT OF EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG WITH NEW CAREGIVER

Oscar's Foundation benefits not only stray & neglected animals, but people battling Depression/Anxiety can benefit as well; the shelter recently coached one of our rescues in a trial two week course for emotional support & recently placed him (Buddy) with a young man battling Manic Depression/Bipolar Disorder. We are pleased to say both Buddy & his new caregiver have formed a strong & healthy bond in the 10 days they have been together. Once we move from our temporary to the permanent location, Emotional Support Dog coaching will be continued for a trial period & if results remain positive, will become a permanent part of the shelter.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE that will benefit those in need, your donation will directly assist in allowing Oscar's Foundation to continue this & all our work with rescues in a permanent location/facility in 2023.

TEMPORARY LOCATION PENDING RELOCATION TO PERMANENT FACILITY IN 2023

Many of you know we are operating currently out of 4212 N. Ann Arbor, Warr Acres, OK and have limited space; however, even with limited space we have taken in and re-homed many cats and dogs since we began operations and have used our climate controlled greenhouse in back as temporary residence for some of them (it is a very large greenhouse) and a few have stayed in our home temporarily. We haven't advertised this to the public as we desperately need to get into the permanent location so the next Phase of operations can begin and it is difficult to work on a permanent location and take in animals at the same time. We have no hours showing on our various sites as we cannot accommodate the rush that would put upon a temporary location; we are taking calls and referring many to other places when we just don't have any space here. WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE & APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING. We are getting there, it is just taking longer than we originally anticipated and wanted to update all of you on this "behind the scenes" activity that couldn't be avoided with the current situation.
