Meredith Worthen and "THE WELCOMING PROJECT"

You must go visit this site immediately:  http://www.thewelcomingproject.org/

The Welcoming Project began in 2011 and was created to encourage local businesses, organizations, and churches in Norman, OK, to display welcoming signs for the purpose of making LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) individuals and allies feel welcomed as patrons. The Welcoming Project is available to communities throughout the United States.

It's so nice to get updates on businesses who are now posting this awesome "ALL ARE WELCOME" sign. Meredith Worthen was one of the first three showcased members selected from around the world to be showcased on the following fb group  https://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_179421342110744&ap=1 What she has started with her project is more than just phenomenal; it goes beyond just allowing patrons to know all are welcome, it signifies an alliance that is being forged in communities across the nation and elsewhere.

Many cities are looking for ways to increase tourism and commerce and so many fail to realize that attracting tourists by allowing the public to know you promote diversity and "ALL ARE WELCOME" is one of the best ways to assure potential tourists that your city has an array of diverse venues to accommodate any individual or organization looking for a host city or just a great place to visit. Civic leaders and event coordinators should be first in line to promote THE WELCOMING PROJECT. It's also just nice to know that "ALL ARE WELCOME" when you patronize a business.

  1. I work at Barnes&Noble@GATech in Midtown Atlanta, and the very cool LGBT indie Outwrite also has signings. Midtown is ATL's Gay Central. When will you visit?

  2. My publicist has me on a tight schedule; right now Atlanta is not on the first swing through, but should be on the second after my sequel comes out later this year! Thanks for following my blog and I will update everyone when a new schedule comes out!
